Theresa Louise Gentry Blanchard

Theresa Louise Gentry Blanchard was born January 3, 1934, to Florencia and Jesse Fleming Gentry in Tucumcari, New Mexico. She passed from this life on March 13, 2024, in Duncan Regional Hospital. After the passing of her mother when Theresa was only 13 years of age, she and her brother were moved to Ryan to live with relatives while their dad was overseas serving in the Navy. She met Robert Levan Blanchard while attending high school in Ryan and they wed in July, 1952. Besides a short 2-year period living in Duncan, the Blanchard family’s home base was Ryan. As was the norm of that time, Theresa was a stay-at-home mom raising her three kids and participating in their school activities. She volunteered her time for Meal-On-Wheels and visits to lonely residents at Ryan Nursing Home. Theresa loved to travel and spent extended periods of time in Hawaii enjoying visits with her two brothers and excursions to all the islands. She was an avid OU football fan and cheered for OKC’s Thunder basketball team loud enough to shake the house.

Theresa is survived by her daughter, Chata; grandkids Maris, Zane, and Tori; daughter-in-law, Jan; brother, Chuck Ford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Levan; sons, Bobby and Rick; brother, Edward C. Gentry. Memorial service will be Friday, May 10, 2024, at 1:00pm in Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan.
