Roy Clingenpeel

Roy Clingenpeel, a longtime resident of Terral, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at his home. He was 83 years old. A memorial service will be held on March 24th, at 2:30 p.m. at the Terral Community Center.

Roy was born December 16, 1939 in Stroud, OK to Raymond and Lucille (Pitts) Clingenpeel. He graduated from high school in Fresno, California. He joined the US Air Force, serving from 1958 until 1963. Roy then joined the US Navy, serving from 1966 until his retirement in 1988. Roy honorably served his country for over 28 years, including tours in Viet Nam, serving on an aircraft carrier. He and Irene Lovelace were united in marriage on November 15, 1961 in Tucson, Arizona. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. His hobbies included fishing, camping, talking on the C.B. radio, working on cars, and being a fix it man. He could fix just about anything! Roy was an active member of the American Legion; serving as Unit Commander, District Commander, and Department Commander.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Irene Clingenpeel; three children: Charles Clingenpeel, Marietta, California, Roy Clingenpeel, Terral, Oklahoma; and Tina Cochran, Camp Verde, Arizona; three grandchildren: Christopher Bauserman, Kristina Brown, and Steven Clingenpeel; and four great-grandchildren: Madyson, Amara, Kaile, and Bradley; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lucille Clingenpeel; his twin brother, Ray Clingenpeel, two half sisters, and one half brother.
