Noel Ree Curington was the only child born to Opal Erie Hestand and Darrell Ree Curington on April 30, 1943 in Oakland, California . He passed from this life Monday, April 18, 2022 at his home in Waurika at the age of 78. Noel graduated from Waurika High School in 1961 and attended 2 years at Oklahoma Christian. Noel was a member of a college band where he sang and played guitar. Noel and Kay Traughber were married May 30, 1963 in Waurika, Oklahoma.

Noel and Kay devoted their lives to the ministry. Noel served as the minister for the Church of Christ in Charlie, Texas for 6 years and for 21 years at the church of Christ in Waurika. Before serving in the church he served at Christ Haven children's home in Keller, Texas for four years and then he served as Assistant Superintendent for Manuelito Navajo Children's home for 2 years. He worked full time and part time at Beaver Lumber for several years and also served as church secretary for the Waurika church of Christ after retiring from the ministry. Noel was the Service Manager at Gerken-Richardson Auto and was a foreman for Jefferson County District 1 as well. Noel served on the Waurika Chamber of Commerce as Chamber President where he was an active member for many years and he also served as President of the Waurika Housing Board of Directors. Noel announced at the Waurika Public School Football games and also at the Pig Shows. He was a founding member of Leon and the Cowchips band and entertained at events. Noel loved music and he shared that passion with many young people. He gave guitars to his grandchildren and many other young people. He watched YouTube videos and learned to make wooden cigar box guitars. He had been named as the song leader for the church of Christ in Waurika by his elders at a very young age and his love for music continued throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife Kay of the home, his children - Sherry Waid and husband Lance, Gregg Curington and wife Cindy, and Chereece Passmore and husband David, grandchildren - Evan, Rayel and wife Charity, Shelby, Emily, Sawyer, Wesley, Kellan, Makiah, Logan, and Brooklynn, and two great grandchildren- Presley and Avery.

Memorial service will be held Monday, April 25, 2022 at 10:00AM at the Waurika church of Christ with Don Delukie officiating, Burial was in Waurika Cemetery on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika.

Memorials may be made to the Waurika church of Christ or Cancer Centers of SW Oklahoma.
