Nawassa Kay Wilcoxson, affectionately known as "Whoppy," was born on August 4, 1961, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Bonnie and Curt Bilyeu. After a life of love and laughter, she passed away on January 17, 2025, in Terral, OK, and is now likely debating the angels in heaven, leaving her mark just as she did on Earth.
Nawassa married her soulmate, Bub, and spent 34 years building a life full of love, passion, and just the right amount of chaos. Together, they raised three daughters--Sarah, Josey, and Stevie--who filled their lives with unforgettable memories. Nawassa always made sure her girls felt like the most important people in the world--until the grandkids came along.
Nawassa spent her career managing Senior Care Communities, where she achieved remarkable success and built a legacy of respect and kindness. After retiring, she embraced her new role as 'Mamo' with unmatched enthusiasm. Her involvement in her grandchildren's lives remained unwavering, always a constant source of love, wisdom, and guidance.
Nawassa was a pillar in the Order of the Eastern Star and in her community, where her commitment was matched only by her generosity. As the family's storyteller, Nawassa had a remarkable gift for weaving tales that not only entertained but also imparted valuable lessons, inspiring her loved ones to fully embrace life. Her battle with Multiple Sclerosis was a testament to her strength and resilience. With unshakable determination, she confronted every obstacle, showing that no challenge was too great to overcome. The family will forever be grateful to Misty, her devoted caretaker, whose unwavering kindness and compassion became a true lifeline during this difficult journey.
Nawassa was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, a brother, and her beloved grandson Cutter. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, daughters, and their spouses, along with her eleven treasured grandchildren. Nawassa is also survived by one dear sister and two cherished brothers. Her legacy extends to a large and loving extended family, including countless nieces, nephews, and bonus family members, each of whom held a special and unique place in her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Terral Cemetery Association to support its continued maintenance and preservation.
