Lula Ethel Anthony was born September 25, 1922, 12 miles east of Waurika in the Beam Community to Norby Dalto and Mary Jane Davis Plant. She passed from this life October 12, 2022 in Waurika at the age of 100 years. Ethel's grandparents came to Jefferson County in the early 1900's in a covered wagon. Her grandmother was 1/2 degree Choctaw Indian and she drew 160 acres in Jefferson County from the Interior of Indian Affairs. She shared her home with 7 siblings, 2 brothers and 5 sisters. They were all born at home with only a midwife. The doctor came a day later in a horse and buggy. Ethel and Glenn Anthony were married in December 1940 at a relative's home. To this union 2 children were born, Doris and Wayne. Glenn preceded her in death in 2007. She lived at home until March of 2021. Ethel worked as a beautician, tag agent, worked at Hobbs appliance, Dean's Drapery Shop, and Ken's Appliance. She also served as the church secretary for 30 years at the Waurika Church of the Nazarene. She was a devout Christian and loved reading her Bible daily.

Ethel is survived by her son and daughter in law, Wayne and Regina Anthony, sister, Stella Heemer, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Doris Pilgreen, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral service for Ethel will be Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2:00PM at Faith Fellowship church in Waurika with Bryan Plant and Curtis Plant officiating. Interment will be in the Waurika Cemetery. Visitation will be at Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika from 1-7PM Friday with family in attendance from 5-7PM.
