Lawrence Lee Lewis was born in Dallas, Texas on March 14, 1938 to Iona Faye (Houchins) and Curtis Lee Lewis. He passed from this life on the Lord's Day, April 3, 2022, at the age of 84. Lawrence attended 1st through 8th grades at Union Valley School and 9th through 12th grades at Ryan High School where he graduated. He attended college at Oklahoma SE State in Durant, Oklahoma for four years . He received his Masters degree in Education at East Texas State University.
Lawrence and Barbara Ann Wilson were married on June 17, 1960 in Durant, Oklahoma. They were blessed with four children - Jeffrey Lee Lewis, Christopher Alan Lewis, Bradley Jay Lewis, and Tracey Renee Dyer.
Lawrence worked as a football coach and teacher in Sherman, Texas. He moved to Waurika to start a Whites Home & Auto store and his cattle business. He also had an insurance agency and carried mail for the US Postal Service.
He loved Jesus, his wife, and his children. He loved raising cattle. He also loved his church and enjoyed being an active member. He loved being around people and visiting.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, of almost 62 years, his children, Jeff Lewis of the home, Chris Lewis and wife Denise of Edmond, Brad Lewis and wife Carol of Waurika, Tracey Dyer and husband Stephen of Ryan
He is also survived by his grandchildren -Taylor and Tori Johnson, Ciara and Sage Cathey, Rowdy Dyer, Tara and Tyler Grimes, Shelby Lewis, Chase Lewis, Catelyn Lewis, and Mackenzie Lewis, one great grandchild - Lauren Johnson.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Funeral service for Mr. Lewis will be Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 2:30 PM at the Church of Christ in Ryan with David Wingfield officiating. Burial will be in the Ryan Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Ryan. Visitation will be from 2-7 PM Monday and 10AM-1PM Tuesday at Dudley Funeral Home in Ryan. Memorials may be made to the church of Christ in Ryan.
