Howell Curtis Mays

Howell Curtis Mays was born December 1, 1945 in Ryan, Oklahoma to Hubert Curtis and Eula Mae (Smith) Mays. He passed from this life surrounded by his wife and daughter on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of 77. Curtis graduated from Waurika High School, and then served his country in the United States Air Force as an Airplane mechanic. He and Linda Marie Phillips were married July 6, 1968 in Waurika, Oklahoma. He was a welder for many years, and then employed until the end of his career with Certainteed. Curtis enjoyed golfing, fishing with his best friend, Bill Crow, and attending classic car shows as he loved showing off one of his prized possessions, a 57 Chevy, which he later replaced with a 2002 red corvette. Curtis also loved watching and attending OU Sooner football games with his daughter, Dawn and his granddaughter Reagan, who was his pride and joy. Curtis is survived by his wife Linda, daughter - Dawn Mays Newton, granddaughter - Reagan Elizabeth Newton, and sister - Gwen Brown and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers- J.B. Mays and Arthur "Fuzz" Mays. Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 11:00AM at Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika. Interment will be in the Waurika Cemetery.
