Henry William Lara, Sr. was born August 8, 1942 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin to Julia (Pintz) and Chico Lara. He passed from this life December 5, 2024 at his home in Waurika, Oklahoma at the age 82. Henry served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He was a police officer and Missouri State Trooper. He also was a forensic photographer. He was owner and operator of residential care facilities and downtown Car sales and car wash. He was a member of the Optimist club in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He was also on the Waurika Senior Citizens Board, Lions Club, Amvets, Rockhound, and City council. He volunteered with the school lunch program and the Senior Citizens Center. He also worked for Red River Transportation as well. He collected military, rocks, coins, stamps, etc. He married Lorrie Ann (Ackley) December 17, 1984 in Kansas City, Missouri. He is survived by his wife Lorrie, children - Aaron Lara, Amity Dunwoodie and husband Greg, Devin Lara, Henry Lara Jr., Joanne Lara, Merlyn Sterling, grandchildren - Krypto, Gabriella,Dylan, Sebastian, Alex, Z,David, Lisa, Harrison and Madison, great grandchildren - Bastian, Emma, and Lily. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings -Margo Long and Jolene Lara.
Memorial service will be Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 1:00PM at the United Methodist Church in Waurika. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Center in Duncan.
