Frances Oleta Houchins

Frances Oleta Houchins was born November 4, 1932 in Montague, Texas to Grace (Echols) and Pat Johnston. She passed from this life Monday, January 20, 2025 in Duncan, Oklahoma at the age of 92. Frances and Jervis "Jerry" Houchins were married June 10, 1950 in Montague, Texas. He preceded her in death August 10, 2019. She worked at the Waurika Public School in various positions including head start and the lunch room. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She loved to rebind old books, sew, and give gifts of music and scriptures she loved. She also loved raising and caring for her chickens. She was a member of the Hastings Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son - Kelly Houchins, sister - Gena Vanscoy, grandson - Chad Houchins, granddaughter - Misty Troxell, and daughter in law - Linda Houchins. She is survived by her children - Larry Houchins and wife Sandy, Darrell Houchins and wife Cindy, Jim Houchins and wife Debbie, Shawn Houchins and wife Pam, Nancy Sanders, Luanne Gage and husband John, Tina Stewart and husband Tim, daughter in law Patti Houchins, 18 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren. Funeral service for Ms. Houchins will be Friday, January 24, 2025 at 2:00PM at the Waurika Church of Christ. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:30-7:30PM at Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Interment will be in the Hastings Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika.
