Doris Darlene (Garrett) Sherrill

Doris Darlene Sherrill, age 80, peacefully passed away on Thursday evening, December 26, 2024 at her home north of Comanche. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30th at 10:30 a.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.

Darlene was born November 30, 1944 in Vernon, TX to Haskell and Elsie Mae (Jones) Garrett. She and Bill Sherrill were united in marriage on September 5, 1959 in Plainview, TX. They moved to the Comanche area in 1984. Darlene enjoyed cooking, doing crafts, and reading her Bible/ She was known as a great storyteller. More than anything, Darlene loved the opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was almost always with her constant companion, her beloved dog, Daisy.

Survivors include her husband Bill, of the home; her children: Ray Sherrill, Duncan, OK; Debbie Ince, Duncan, OK; Larry Sherrill and wife Renee, Paris, TX; Ricky Sherrill and wife Tammy, Levelland, TX; and Bailey Hogan, College Station, TX; one sister, Barbara Coursy and husband Van, Levelland, TX; sixteen grandchildren, thirty two great-grandchildren. And three great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Mike Garrett, David Garrett, Billy Joe Garrett; and three sisters: Martha Gibson, Mattie Bryant, and Daline Garrett.

Serving as pallbearers will be J.R. Kaurs, Jimmy Roundtree, Jason Malcom, Kevin Calhoun, Marty Calhoun, and David Elliott.
