Doris Ann Baker

Doris Ann Baker was born September 3, 1945 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Medreath E. (Spurrier) and Fairy E. Bell. She passed from this life Thursday, October 26, 2023 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of 78. She was the owner/manager of OK Plumbing. Doris and Paul Henry Baker were married in Reno, Nevada on September 22, 1962. Henry preceded her in death on June 2, 2017. Doris and Henry devoted their later lives to their music, especially the preservation of the Western Swing genre. In 1999, Henry and Doris bought the "Church of Western Swing" in Turkey, Texas, a 100 year old Assembly of God church and made it into a music theater known as "'the place to be" in Turkey, Texas for Bob Wills music. She is survived by her daughter - Shelli Murray, 2 grandchildren - Shawn C. Flatford and Jason L. Murray, 2 great grandchildren - Casey Ray Flatford and Blake Murray, sister - Linda Bell Cook, brothers and sisters in law - Donna and Don McMahon and Linda and Chris Brown and also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - Henry, daughter - Sheila Baker Griggs siblings - Forrest Bell, Coy Jean Bell, Don Bell, Cecil Bell and Mary (Sweet Pea) Bell Tolsen. Graveside service for Ms. Baker will be Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 1:00PM at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Oklahoma. with Ann Baker officiating. Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika will be open from noon-5 PM Monday, October 30, 2023.for book signing.
