Derek Stan Richardson

Derek Stan Richardson passed from this life on Tuesday morning, November 5th at the age of 43. He was born December 28, 1980, to Stan and Sharon (Logan) Richardson. Derek attended Waurika Schools where he was a letterman in football and a graduate of the Class of 1999. He was a skilled worker who loved "fixing things" and especially enjoyed anything to do with mechanical repair. He loved fishing and being outdoors.

Throughout his adult life, Derek worked at various jobs which required skilled labor, and he learned new skills constantly. He could fix, put together, or build almost anything. He loved his job and the people he worked with and for at Rudy Construction in Oklahoma City, but his passion was working for Bartling Ranch in Waurika where he worked until his death. He loved working on the ranch and riding around the ranch and around town with his employer and close friend, Roy Bartling, whom he referred to as his "Second Dad."

Preceding Derek in death were his grandparents, Fred and Betty Richardson, and Charles and Burnis Logan, as well as his parents, Stan and Sharon. He is survived by his aunts and uncles, Pete and Sheila Gutierrez of Okay, Oklahoma, Gary and Becky Gerken, Everett and Ann Hodges, and Donnie and Sandra Watkins, all of Waurika. Derek is also survived by his cousins with whom he was extremely close: Craig (Bird) Gerken, Michelle Gerken Hall, Steve Waid, Jon Waid, Kyle Waid, Renae Watkins Greer, Braden Watkins, Banessa Gutierrez, and Bettina Gutierrez Davis. Survivors also include many second cousins and third cousins.

Derek was a member of the Passion Church in Bethany, Oklahoma. He served as an usher there and worked on many projects helping others in that church and community. A private service is scheduled for Derek.
