David Troy Hykel, a resident of Ryan, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday evening July 20, 2022 at the Jefferson County Hospital. He was 58 years old.

David was born October 6, 1963 in Waco, Texas, to Robert R. and Dorothy (Adamcik) Hykel. He attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School thru 7th grade and graduated high school from DeSoto High School. David was the fullback (#24) on the football team. He attended college at UTA for 1 year. David was blessed with one child, Joshua Hykel born in Dallas, TX. David did carpentry for his uncle and owned a carpet cleaning business before landing at Southwestern Bell now AT&T as a field technician for 30 years.

He married the love of his life Leslie Grantham on February 14, 2015 in Las Vegas, NV and this marriage fulfilled his lifelong dream of farming and ranching. The marriage blessed him with 2 step children, Kyle and Ryan, and 3 precious grandchildren who he adored.

David loved to cook, grill and smoke. He always said, “You have to have a beer in hand to smoke/grill meat.” Therefore, he did a lot of smokin and grilling.

Family was very important to David, he called his brothers weekly if not daily and kept in contact with his cousins and aunts. He was kind hearted and was always willing to lend someone a helping hand. He believed in the Lord and lived his life the Christian way. He always had a smile for all to see how happy he was.

He was preceded in death by his parents. David leaves behind his wife Leslie; one child: Josh Hykel of Florida; 2 step sons: Kyle Woodard and Rachel of Dallas, TX and Ryan Woodard and Kelsie of Ryan, OK; two brothers: Mark and Christi Hykel of Lowery’s Crossing, TX and Chris and Susan Hykel of McKinney, TX; 3 beloved grandchildren: Olivia, Lane, and Ben; 3 nieces and 3 nephews.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 1:30pm at the United Methodist Church in Ryan, OK.
