Dan Benson

Dan Benson, age 90, a lifelong resident of Comanche, passed away on Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023 at Duncan. A funeral service will be held at the Pavilion at Fairlawn Cemetery, on Thursday, September 28th at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Kevin McKinley officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.

Dan was born May 15, 1933 in Comanche, to Troy and Sally "Box" Benson. He was a graduate of Comanche High School. On August 31, 1950 he married Pauline Jones at the First United Methodist Church in Comanche. Dan loved rodeos, and horse races. He was a huge fan of the OU Sooners. Dan was active in law enforcement for over forty years. In his younger days he coached his boys Little League teams. He and Pauline were members of the Methodist Church. Dan loved his dachshund, "Oscar", who was his constant companion.

Survivors include his wife Pauline, of the home; two sons: Jackie Benson, Comanche, and Barry Benson and wife Debra, Ringling; two grandchildren: Karen Benson Norris and husband Chad, and Darrell Benson; and one great-grandchild, Luke Norris. Also, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Sally Benson; and a grandson, Dereck Benson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jackie Benson, Barry Benson, Chad Norris, Andy Jones, and Darrell Benson.
