Colt McCabe Gunter was born March 18, 1982 in Nocona, Texas to Mike and Mona Gunter. He passed from this life October 21, 2022 in Wichita, Kansas where he has lived for many years.Colt was raised in Terral and attended Terral, Ryan, and Walters school and graduated first in his class in Walters in 2000. He was a McDonalds All State Basketball player and pitcher of the year in all Area baseball in 2000. He attended college for 2 years at Bacone, Oklahoma where he played basketball. Colt attended the University of Oklahoma for 4 years. He was on the Deans Honor roll all 6 years of college. Colt graduated Summa Cum Laude and was 2nd in his Aerospace AME Engineering class with honors. He also received his MBA at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas, He was very proud of both of his diplomas. He started work out of college in 2006, at Spirit Aerosystems in Tulsa and Wichita, Kansas. He received many awards and honors from Spirit. He was always proud of the work he accomplished for his country, as he was in Defense. At the time of his death, he was a Senior Research and Development Engineer. He was well sought after by NASA, Northrip Grummond, and many other Aerospace Companies. Colt was loved by a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers from all over the United States and other countries. If you really knew Colt, he loved you. He will be missed dearly, as we all have to live without this beautiful soul. He was the most intelligent man we will ever know. He was a shining light no matter where he happened to be.
Colt is survived by his parents Mike and Mona Gunter of Terral, Oklahoma, grandmother - Helen Gunter of Terral, his girlfriend Kimberlee Cannon of 14 years from Wichita, Kansas, his precious "daddy's boys" fur babies Lyo and Kevin Gunter, brothers - Mike Hendley and wife Deborah of Durant, OK., John Stephen Smith of Ft. Worth, Texas, Sister - Michelle Duke of Justin, Texas, his nephews - Tyler Hendley and wife Bailey and great nephew John Hendley all of McKinney, Texas, Zach Hendley and wife Paige of Durant, Oklahoma, Cade Duke of Justin, Texas. He was "Uncle Colt" to his chosen nephews Dax, Denny, and Dawson Johnson and to Rylee Townsend and Will Townsend and niece Landry Duke.
Celebration of life service for our beloved son will be March 18, 2023 at 2:00PM at the new First Baptist in Terral, Oklahoma. Happy Birthday Colt, you are so loved!
Come celebrate Colt's life with us and feel free to tell your stories and share with us. It will be loving and casual as we laugh and cry together, as we celebrate this precious son, friend, and loved one. We celebrate his life today, and in death we celebrate him as well.
