Carolyn Cathey Howard

Carolyn Cathey Howard was born November 27, 1941 in Ryan, Oklahoma to Douglas John and Mary Esteline (Bouldin) Cathey. She passed from this life Tuesday, January 21, 2025 in Duncan, Oklahoma at the age of 83. She attended Central State and graduated from Cameron University with a bachelors degree in education. She married Richard Howard February 1, 1963 in Ryan, Oklahoma. He Preceded her in death in 1985. She worked for Halliburton for several years. She became a teacher and taught at Ryan Public Schools for many years. She was a member of the Teachers Union, the Red Hat Society, and the United Methodist Church in Ryan. She loved to cook and to paint.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Doug Cathey in 1997, and her nephew Scott Cathey in 2020. She is survived by her children, Richard Bradley Howard and wife Jean Ann Hudson, Glenn Murray Howard and wife Robbin, and Carol Anne Garrett and husband Tim; six grandchildren, Courtney Serratt and husband Johnny, Elise Hudson Howard, Zane Howard, Evan Hudson Howard, Lily Garrett, and Emily Garrett; two great grandchildren; Thomas and Bridget Serratt; niece Shelly Mora and husband Guy, several great nieces and nephews, family and friends and her beloved special group of friends called the Ya-Ya's. Memorial service for Ms. Howard will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 1:00PM at the Ryan Cemetery with Ricky Phillips officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7PM Friday at the Dudley Funeral Home in Ryan. (612 Washington)
