Tammi Lynne McCarter

Tammi Lynne McCarter was born November 21, 1966 at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas, to Ray Gene and Kathy (Bowles) McCarter. She finished her earthly journey on July 29, 2026 at Integris Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by a host of loving family members.
Tammi attended school at Okarche, Oklahoma; Mustang, Oklahoma; Waurika, Oklahoma; and Central High, Oklahoma, while her dad taught and coached. After graduating from Central High, Oklahoma High School in 1985, where she played basketball, was an active member of the Future Farmers of America, and was very active and accomplished student, she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, as well as a Master's Degree in Education, from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. During her career, she achieved her National Teaching Certification and taught at Duncan, Oklahoma; Waurika, Oklahoma, where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year; and most recently as a 5th grade teacher at Comanche Schools. Outside of the classroom, she enjoyed traveling, and being an accomplished photographer and was an avid University of Oklahoma sports fan.
Tammi had an engaging and uplifting personality and never met a stranger. She challenged her students to be their best and was always there to support them academically, at their sporting events, and in all their endeavors.
Tammi's most cherished moments and memories were spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, whom she loved VERY MUCH, and attending as many of their activities as possible, including fishing, rodeos, and athletic events, where she was their biggest and loudest fan.
Tammi was preceded in death by her younger brother Clinton Henry McCarter; her maternal grandparents Howard Henry and Betty Bowles; her parental grandmother, MarJean Colbert; Aunt Rodna Cherry; Uncle Fred McCarter; and Aunt Marilyn and her husband Gene Red Elk. She is survived by her parents, Ray Gene and Kathy McCarter, of Marlow, OK; daughter Brandye Looper and her husband Colt and grandson Tye, of Foster, OK; son Codye Leu of Comanche, OK; granddaughters Cailye Bohot of Hastings, OK; and her husband, Lester Lehew and their daughter, MaKayla Lehew and grandson Waylon of Waurika, OK; Aunt Carla Cherry of Walters, OK; Aunt Boo Ledford and husband Kent of Walters, OK; Aunt Carla Cherry of Walters, OK; Aunt Connie Higgins of Duncan, OK, Aunt Cristy Lentz and husband Walt of Duncan, OK, and a long list of cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved VERY MUCH!!
Pallbearers are Christopher Garrett, Ely Henry Garrett, Bailey Dyer, Codye Leu, Chad Dyer, Colt Looper, Lester Lehew, Waylon Lehew, and Walt Lentz.
Burial to be in Addington, Oklahoma Cemetery on Monday, August 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Service conducted by Rev. Bubba Clark and Rev. Martin Knox.
