Billy Merle Griffin was born March 5, 1933 in Grady, Oklahoma to A.W. "Andy" and Lillian Gertrude (Baker) Griffin. She passed from this life Friday, June 19, 2026 in Duncan, Oklahoma. Billy attended schools at Grady and Spanish Fort, and graduated from Ringling High School. Billy and Norman Wayne Smith were married April 19, 1952 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death October 4, 2017.
Billy worked at Moore Drug in Ringling, as a teller for First Farmers Bank in Waurika, at the soil conservation office, Farmers Home Alliance and the FSA office until her retirement.
She was a major part of the Methodist Church in Waurika. She sang in the choir, was a member of the Methodist Ladies, and was a part of cooking for various church events and planned many funeral dinners as well. She was also a member of the Claypool Extension Club. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and canning. She was loving known as "Granny Bill" by her grandchildren and many others.

She is survived by her children Jerry Wayne Smith and wife Mondy; Steve Smith and girlfriend Leslie Bogue, and Dennis Morris; grandchildren, Denton Smith and wife Emily, Micah Smith, and Austin Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Gertrude; husband, Wayne; siblings, J.B. "Son" Griffin, Edna Earl Vaughn, and Charles Griffin.

Funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 1:30PM at the Methodist church in Waurika with Everett Hodges officiating. Burial will be in the Grady Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Visitation will be from 11AM-7PM Tuesday evening with family receiving visitors from 5-7PM at Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika. Memorials may be made to the Waurika Methodist Church or to the Claypool Community Center.
