Ronald "Ronnye" Lee Benton

Ronnye "Panther" Benton was born August 11, 1947 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Dalton "Jug" and Peggy (Seay) Benton. He passed from this life Tuesday, June 16, 2026 in Nocona, Texas at the age of 78. Ronnye served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifelong rancher and enjoyed the cowboy life. He was the 1966 AJRA World Champion Steer wrestler. He and Iris Jane Scheer were married July 23, 1968 in Waurika, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death October 15, 2020. He worked for Muleshoe Cattle Company in the 70's before owning and operating his own ranch. He was of the Baptist faith.

Ronnye is survived by his son Bob Benton and wife Gina; grandson Lathe Benton and girlfriend Cobie Hufnagel; brother Joe Benton and wife Linda; sister, Lana Heath and husband Charley; brother in law Avery Linton, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jane, daughter, Rebecca, and sister, Sue Linton.

Graveside service for Mr. Benton will be Friday, June 19, 2026 at 3:00PM at the Oscar Cemetery with Ricky Phillips officiating. Memorials may be made to the Oscar Cemetery or to the WRCA. Services are under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home.
