Jean Louise (Rogers) Choate

Jean was born 8-23-31 in Mendota Illinois to Ted and Zaida Harrison Rogers. She was proceeded in death by her parents Ted Rogers and Zaida Nighswonger, her husband Rev Bill Choate, one daughter, Suzie Orton, three brothers, Jack, Teddy, and Monte Rogers and one sister, Terry Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Allen of Blackshear, Georgia, two sons, Larry, (Ellen) Choate of Duncan, Oklahoma, Jim, (Jessie) Choate of Venice, Florida. Twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and 3 1/2 great great grandsons. Numerous nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, Saundra Rogers and her very best friends, Jim and Jodie Green of Little Rock, Arkansas.
She grew up in Enid, Oklahoma and attended Adams Elementary and Emerson JH. She married Bill Choate of Hennessey, Oklahoma on May 1, 1948. She was born into God's kingdom June 1953 and followed the Lord in baptism. They pastored churches in Ringwood, Eden, Okeene, Meridian, and County Line, Oklahoma. In Texas they pastored in Cisco and Granbury. Jean graduated from Southwestern University in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1972 with a Bachelors of Education. She taught school in Comanche and Meridian, Oklahoma. She received her Master's degree from East Central University, Ada, Oklahoma in 1992. She loved children and taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and her grands. She was a wonderful seamstress and made many cheerleader uniforms for Meridian Elementary and several wedding dresses for students and friends. If you were her friend, you were blessed. She and Bill were married for 67 years. They were married so young she said they raised each other.
Her services will be at Patterson Avenue Baptist Church, on Friday, February 3, 2023, with Pastors Kelly Pollock and John Croy officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery. Viewing will be on Friday, 9:00-10:00 a.m.
