Charles M Burt

Charles M. Burt, a lifelong resident of the Duncan and Comanche area, passed away in Edmond, OK on May 5, 2025. He was 87 years old. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Kelly Pollock officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery. Viewing will be Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Born in Duncan to Opal Echols-Burt and James "Jim" Burt, Charles graduated from Duncan High School in 1955. He went on to serve in the Oklahoma National Guard before beginning a long and successful career in the pipeline industry with Koch Oil, from which he eventually retired.

Charles was married to Louise Riggle-Burt for sixty years, until her passing in 2023. He is survived by his son, Rodney Burt, and daughter in law, Scarlett Burt, of Edmond, OK; his granddaughter, Dr. Taylor Wilkinson, and her husband, Dr. Connor Wilkerson; and three great-grandchildren, Cannon, Cole, and Collins Wilkinson, all of Blanchard, OK

Charles and Louise were devoted members of Patterson Avenue Baptist Church in Comanche, where they cherished their Sunday School class and enjoyed supporting the church's youth group activites.

He loved spending time in his shop and could often be found mowing- something he continued well into his 80's, including care for the church grounds. Charles was also a proud charter member of the world-renowned Thirsty's Coffee Club in Comanche.
