Janis "Jan" Diane (Davis) Farris

Jan Farris, 68, of Addington, Oklahoma entered her heavenly home on July 19, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born Janis Diane Davis in Duncan, Oklahoma on December 22, 1956, to Jack D. and Norma Davis. Jan married Johnny Farris on June 19, 1982, and the two settled in Addington where they would spend the next 43 years together on the family's farm. Together they welcomed two children, Chelsea and Dell.

After graduating from Duncan High School in 1975, Jan briefly spent time with family in California and then moved to Oklahoma City before making her way back to southern Oklahoma. She worked for many years at Oklahoma National Bank in Duncan before going to cosmetology school. This move allowed her more flexibility to be with her kids as they grew up and to be able to help around the farm. She was a dedicated farm wife who was always ready and willing to help however she could. Jan was present at all her kids' sporting events, 4-H & FFA activities, and boy scouts. She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Waurika. For the past twenty-five years she has worked at the Waurika First Baptist Church Preschool as a teacher. She enjoyed teaching the kids and even got to have one of her own grandkids this past spring, which she loved! Jan is known for her baked goods which she loved sharing with her friends and family.

Jan's love for family was evident. She is affectionately called Jama by her five grandchildren, who all adore her. She was always willing, even at a moment's notice, to keep her grandkids and they loved being with her. Jan loved going to all the grandkids' activities, having them over at the house, and especially having everyone around for the holidays.

Jan is survived by her husband Johnny. Daughter Chelsea Dorward & husband Russell of Clifton, Texas. Son Dell Farris & wife Caitlin of Comanche. Grandchildren, Rance, Camie, and Davis Dorward and Caroline and Bridger Farris. Sister, Shyrle Davis and daughter Lauren Halleran. Brother Jackie Davis and son Jake Davis. Brother-in-Law, Billy Tom and Sally Farris and their sons Matthew Farris and fiancee Masha and Ben Farris, wife Erin and daughter Evelyn. Plus, many other cousins and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, John and Mildred Farris.

Her funeral service will take place Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10am at the First Baptist Church of Waurika. Interment will be at the Waurika Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 23 from 5pm to 7pm at Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the FBC Preschool of Waurika, Okla.
